2008 United States ARDF Championships
Schedule
The following is a tentative schedule of events for the 2008 United States
ARDF Championships. This schedule may change.
Park Entrance Fee: Competitors and other guests will be
responsible for paying their own park entrance fees. It is recommended
that all three days be purchased on Thursday to avoid having to stop at the
park entrance on Friday or Saturday morning. Inform the ranger that
you are part of the group registered for the Group Dining Hall on Friday
and you will receive a discount for that day's admission.
Monday April 28

Registration postmark deadline. Competitors are
encouraged to email the organizers when they have mailed in their
registrations.

Thursday May 8
|
12:00 PM to 4:00 PM Practice event. Meet at the
picnic shelter in the Copperas Creek Campground. Signs will direct
you from the park entrance. Competitors should bring both 144 MHz
and 3.5 MHz receivers with them. Sample transmitters will be placed
in the woods within 1 kilometer of meet HQ. Competitors will be
given an orienteering map of the practice event area. Competitors
will use this opportunity to verify operation of their equipment.
4:00 PM to 5:00 PM Introduction to ARDF Meeting.
This will be an opportunity for those new to ARDF to learn more about
the sports, ask questions, and find mentors.
5:00 PM to 6:00 PM Mandatory Competitor Meeting.
Topics covered at the competitor meeting will include: a review of the
rules, a review of the start process, course notes, time limits,
competition schedule, course safety, start order, the electronic
punch system, and anything else relevant to the competition.
Competitors will be given numbered race bibs and safety pins that
must be worn during the competition.
6:00 PM to 6:30 PM Volunteer Meeting.
Topics covered at the competitor meeting will include:
tasks to be performed, communications, procedures, and contingency
plans.

Friday May 9
|
10:00 AM 144 MHz Competition. Meet at the
Group Dining Hall. Signs will direct you from the park entrance.
The first start time will be 10:00 AM, and competitors will start
at 5 minute intervals. Competitors must arrive at the start by
9:00 AM for equipment impound.
6:00 PM Group Dinner in the Group Dining Hall.
Dinner will be meat lasagna, salad, bread, and dessert. Anyone with
special dietary needs should contact the organizers. Extra dinners
can be purchased, in advance, for spouses, children, or other
non-competitor guests. Awards for the 144 MHz competition will be
presented after dinner.

Saturday May 10
|
9:00 AM 3.5 MHz Competition. Meet at the Copperas
Cove Campground. The first start time will be 9:00 AM, to help
accomodate those needing to leave in the afternoon. Competitors
must arrive at the start by 8:00 AM for equipment impound. Awards
for the 3.5 MHz competition will be presented in the finish area as
soon as possible after the competition.
